Gregory Hubbard Bio
A self taught artist whose media range from acrylic on canvas to pen and ink on paper. My artistic journey began in 2014 after retiring from a successful 25 year career in sales and marketing. Often I remarked that in my next life I would return as an artist, then realized why wait?
Abstract and modern art have fascinated me from a young age. Form, motion, texture and color merging together to visually portray something transcendent feels magic; a dreamlike departure; an instant connection to something greater. Striving to communicate on such a level has become an overriding passion.
My creative process varies from sketching out ideas to letting a piece discover itself. Each work emerges at its own pace, sometimes over weeks and sometimes frenetically. The result is unique and often unreproducible. Therefore certain originals are only available via print.
Being an artist is very humbling. The intent of my work is to create a platform for beauty. When a person experiences a positive emotional response while viewing my art, I have succeeded. I can think of no greater sense of accomplishment.
"The artist's life cannot be otherwise than full of conflicts, for two forces are at war within him. On the one hand the common human longing for happiness, satisfaction, and security in life, and on the other a ruthless passion for creation which may go so far as to override every personal desire."
-C.G. Jung
